President Barrow makes surprise visit to Gam-Petroleum

The President was at Mandinari village in West Coast Region on a surprise visit to the Gam-Petroleum facility at the fuel storage depot. 

The Gambian leader said he wanted to assess and know first hand the state of the facility. 
He talked about the need to protect the facility, for it to be entirely managed by Gambians, and the need to build the capacities of the staff for effective management.

Built at a cost of €32 million US $50 million, Gam-Petroleum terminal consists of 17 fuel tanks with total storage capacity of 51,000 metric tons of heavy and light fuel oils as well as LPG (liquid propane gas), and includes 19 loading bays for tanker trucks, state-of-the-art technology in gauging and metering equipment, a fully equipped LPG bottling plant and 3 off-shore pipelines of 2.5 km each to access the draft for birthing big fuel tankers
