9 houses, factories and facilities belonging to Aziz were connected to electricity free of charge

El-alem – A recent document reveals all the financial and technical information related to SOMELEC invoices of houses, companies and factories belonging to former president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, which have been unpaid for years.

More seriously, these sites benefited from social subscriptions not registered with the services of the company; which means that they do not receive invoices, in order to appear in a regular situation, while their current consumption is not paid at the SOMELEC counters.

Even more surprising is the fact that it was Ould Abdel Aziz himself who signed the law criminalizing electricity fraud in February 2019.

After paying 12 million ouguiyas in return for several months of electricity consumption, Ould Abdel Aziz decided to illegally introduce the current through a pole behind the house in a small alley, the sources revealed.

This prompts us to wonder about Ould Abdel Aziz, who was firm in front of ministers and public opinion on the issue of transparency and the fight against corruption.

One also wonders whether it was conceivable that this conduct was that of a President of the Republic.

The document also specifies that the commercial and technical services of SOMELEC found several violations related to electricity at sites, supposedly belonging to the former Head of State, including among others:

1. His recently built home in Nouakchott, Al-Nasr district, meter no.720781, date of installation on 07/24/2019, having consumed 12,038 kilowatts over a period of 8 months. This is a connection not declared in the list of subscribers of the company and the bill for which amounts to 1,134,009.9 ouguiyas.

2. A service station to supply a farm located in the village of Ambeyane, near the town of Rosso, the meter of which bears the number 134294 and installed on March 21, 2017 displaying a consumption of 348,245 kilowatts over a period of 36 months and whose bill is 4,133,600.8 ouguiyas.

3. A rice hulling plant also located in the village of Ambeyane near Rosso, with meter no.134287, installed on 03/21/2017. Its consumption is 348,245 kW while its bill is 4,937,793.7 ouguiyas.
