2023 Presidency: Adamu Garba II Fires Back At Tinubu, Youths Can Be Kings And King Makers

APC Chieftain and 2023 APC Presidential aspirant, Adamu Garba II through his official Facebook page has reacted to the statement made by Asiwaju, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerian youths.

In Adamu words, “The statement of Bola Tinubu on the Youth to wait, clearly identifies youths as the King Makers. If he called himself a kingmaker, who tries to be king, why can’t the Youth make themselves kings? He should go with his class; we are ok with the Youth for Youth”.

Bola Tinubu, who was also the former Governor of Lagos State, has been travelling across the country, consulting with stakeholders over his presidential ambition, who in January, announced his intention to contest for the office of the president in 2023, speaking on Sunday when he visited Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo, at the palace, Tinubu literally stated that youths in politics that intend to become president of the country, can achieve that, but only after he has become one. In his words “You won’t allow the elderly ones to pass and you haven’t become president. What if you become president, will you chase us out of town?” Tinubu asked.

“You will grow old and become president. But I will become the president first.”

In recent times, there has been clamour for youths to occupy top political positions in the country, which gave birth to the #NotTooYoungToRun movement.

The marginalization of youth from mainstream political participation and decision-making is underscored by inconsequential responsibilities assigned to youth such as posting posters, distribution of campaign materials, singing and dancing during campaigns and party conventions, and mobilizing thugs and crowds. These can neither be referred to as inclusion nor qualitative participation since they do not translate into access to the structures of decision making. And the obnoxious tendency has to be extremely jettisoned by insisting that political parties create a level playing field for both the young and old to aspire and contest for all political offices.
