Minister Bah Hails Dubai for Hosting the World
The Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hamat N.K. Bah has commended Dubai for being the first country to host World Expo in Middle East since its inception in London in 1851 all the way to the modern-day.
He described the people of Dubai as beautiful and great for hosting the world and humanity in all the best form, shape and innovation.
The Tourism Minister made these remarks on 11th October 2021 on Gambia Day at Expo Dubai 2020, where he deputised for His Excellency President Adama Barrow on the theme: connecting minds, creating the future- “Human Progress is an on-going journey, not a destination, starting from prehistoric times and leading into the distant future; humans will never rest in the quest for a better world.
He opined that through this Expo 2020, Dubai is setting the stage for a greater world where the human endurance and capabilities are being stated and validated. He said in Dubai, humanity takes centre stage; machine and digital technology are companions in development but the human mind, spirit and innovation takes lead.
“Today, human development and progress appeared as a concept in the midst of intense debates that is challenging GDP growth as a measure of national progress. By putting lives of people at the centre of development and economic thinking, it means a revolutionary change in the way the world deals with poverty and social injustice. Now, as we seek to develop the Sustainable Development Goals, we should be prepared to make equally, radical responses to the changing context and the new challenges the world faces,” Minister Bah emphasized.
In this regard, he went on, The Gambia anchored to showcase its presentation of cultural artefacts of modern day with technology exhibition at the Gambian pavilion.
