Ismael Conde writes to his President on the 2020 presidential elections

Only the convergence of struggles could free the dictatorship. A dictator doesn’t need a voice, he needs legitimacy. It is under these conditions that I took my pen to train my President Elhadj Cellou Dallein Diallo

Hello Mr. President, I am missing a lot of information regarding our participation or not in the future presidential elections.
Not long ago I made a video to express my position. Being a member of the executive board of the UFDG and given my absence in the country, I have a duty to share my position with you personally.
Mr. President, you alone embody the whole struggle for the advent of true democracy in our country. For this fight, more than 500 Guineans lost their lives and thousands suffered very serious injuries, some of them irreversibly. The Guinean people, the African nations and the international community are all witnesses to these facts.
Today whatever the decision taken by the political council of the party I hereby undertake to submit to it. But for all that I take a position for the non participation of the party for these elections for a few reasons which I will quote:
1 – a presidential election is a meeting between a person and his people. But for these elections the people are taken hostage and are represented by Alpha Conde his CENI and his administration
2- we are not participating in an election where the winner is known in advance and the winner is ready to do anything for it.
3- The Fight for the advent of democracy can only be led by the UFDG alone. The proof since 2007 are only the activists and sympathizers of the UFDG who lead the fight for a true democracy in Guinea. For once we are sure to see others join us in the final battle. Are we not going without it anyway?
4- It is obvious that a free and transparent election organized in Guinea no party could beat us except that these elections will be neither free nor transparent. Why participate.
5- We just need a little patience. Maximum 24 months to definitively turn the page of this regime which will be crushed by the force of our fight.
I ask you with my hand on my heart for this little time of patience. I know it’s tough for us. But unfortunately this is the only solution we have left.
I remain at your entire disposal
