END TO IRIGWE AND FULANI CRISIS IN SIGHT
The persistent feud between the Irigwe and Fulani of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State may soon be a thing of the past as the two groups reached a resolution to cease hostilities while seeking Peaceful pathways to resolve the lingering issues.
This major milestone was reached yesterday following a closed door meeting between leaders of the two groups chaired by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, KSGG and moderated by the Director General, PPBA, Mr. Joseph Lengmang, where they both agreed to adhere to the terms of agreement they individually drafted as a panacea for the return of Peace to all communities in Bassa LGA if Plateau State.
Climax of the meeting was when both groups apologized and forgave one another for the injuries, both physical and psychological, they inflicted on one another as the animosity lasted.
The Governor then directed PPBA to follow-up to ensure that they harmonized their various positions into a document. On the request of the leaders, the Governor agreed to personally supervise the signing of their harmonized positions to climax the return of Peace to Irigwe land.
You will recall that this meeting is sequel to other separate meetings the Governor held with Irigwe and Fulani leaders from Bassa a fortnight ago towards finding lasting solutions to a problem that had this far proven to be somewhat insoluble.
