Breaking News: Ahmed Joda, Adamawa Elder statesman is dead.
The death has been announced of Alhaji Joda, OFR, CON, CFR, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industries during the the administration of Gen Yakubu Gowon.
Alhaji Ahmed Joda was born in 1930 in Yola, Adamawa State;
He attended Yola Elementary School, Yola; Middle School; Kaduna College,1945-48; Pitman's College,Undon, 1954-56.
He worked with Nigerian Broadcasting Service, 1956-60; snr. asst sec./ps. former Northern Nigerian Public Service, 1962-67; permanent secretary Federal Ministries of Information, Education and later Industries, 1967-78. He retired voluntarily from the Public Service in 1978.
He was at various times member Constituent Assembly, 1988-89; Director Commercial Bank (Credit Lyonnais); Flour Mills of Nigeria Ltd; Food Specialties Nigeria Ltd., Lagos; George Wimpey&Company Nigeria Ltd; Nigerian-French Insurance Company Ltd., 1987; New Africa Holdings Ltd' (Publishers of the Democrat Newspapers), Kaduna; pioneer chairman Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Chairman SCOA Nigeria Limited, Ingersoll-Rand Nigeria Ltd., Lagos. Member Committee to Advise the Presidency on Poverty Alleviation, July 17, 1999; Governing Council, ABTI-American University, Yola, since 2005.
He received various national awards and honors among which are Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR), 1965; Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), 1979; Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), 2002.

He has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
