The Origin of Pulaaku Clans: A Translation of a Part of Mohammed Jallo’s "Jettooje Fulɓe" | Mobbo Haami Bari.

Jettooje Fulɓe Fulɓe Clans

Originally, Fulɓe clans are only four, namely:

1) Jallo
2) Bah
3) Bari
4) Soh

All other clans, are said, emanated from these four.

What are these clans?
What do they mean?
It’s said, every clan name has its meaning.

1) JALLO
Jalllo
 is east. His name signifies Light. He owns the yellow colour. He is the embodiment of knowledge and the leader in religious affairs.

2) BAH
Bah
 is the west. His name connotes wind. He represents the Red colour. He is the protector of Pulaaku world (The warriors).

3) BARI
Bari
 is North. His name connotes Earth. He represents the white colour. He is the king (Leader) of Fulɓe.

4) SOH
Soh/Sow
 is South. His name signifies Water. He represents the black colour. He is the embodiment of hidden knowledge.

These are the clans of Fulɓe in one narration. There’s another meaning to these names, which will come soon, insha-Allah.
