Nearly 20 years after the first U.S. troops set foot on Afghanistan soil, Major Gen. Chris Donahue became the last military service member to depart the country Monday.
Donohue, with a Kabul airport hangar behind him, climbed aboard the final Air Force aircraft carrying U.S. forces to leave the country. The plane left just before a self-imposed U.S. deadline to evacuate.
