Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz: “some of my friends Heads of State have often asked me to serve a third term
In an interview with our colleagues from France24, the former president of Mauritania spoke of the problem of the third term in his country: “I had the possibility of carrying out a constitutional coup d’état with my 102 deputies but I refused. I never wanted to serve a third term. So why would I carry out a coup d’état when I had the legal possibility of changing the constitution with the support of more than 102 deputies ”, indicated Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz before adding:“ it is true that some of my friends Heads of State have often asked me; they even insisted that I do a third term. But I refused. I preferred to respect the constitution of my country in which I have embedded democracy “.
