Insecurity: Stop Probing Nigerian Military, African Lawyers Tell ICC

It said the ICC should instead be chasing the financiers, supporters and promoters of all the internationally recognized crimes.

The association’s president, Hannibal Uwaifo, spoke in Abuja during the opening of the 2022 maiden Armed Forces and Other Security Agencies Law Conference in collaboration with the Defence Headquarters.

He said a series of probe on the activities of Nigerian military was jeopardizing fight against insecurity in Africa, especially in Nigeria.

“While it is clear that they (military) are doing their best in the circumstance, their inability to secure full public support and the activities of civilian saboteurs is making the job difficult.”

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, represented by the Chief of Defence Administration, Rear Adm. Muhammed Nagenu, said the conference would help to generate new approach to counter the security challenges through legal compliance.
