Gambia to play friendly against Congo
Congo, Senegal’s opponent in the CAN and 2022 World Cup qualifiers, will play a friendly match against Gambia on October 9 in Algarve, Portugal, announced the Gambian Federation on its official website.
” Following the finalization of the Gambia Scorpions training program in Portugal from October 5 to 14, 2020, the Gambian Football Federation is pleased to announce that it has finalized the arrangements with the Congolese Football Federation and thus obtained a second international friendly match for the Scorpions, ” notes the GFF website.
Gambia will play against Congo (Brazzaville) on October 9 for their first friendly match and four days later against Guinea. Defeated by Senegal 2-0 in the first playoff match, Congo relaunched in the race for qualification after a large 3-0 victory against Guinea Bissau in Brazzaville.
Senegal had achieved a full card in the group by dominating after Congo, Estwani 4-1. Senegal will play in a friendly against Morocco and Mauritania to prepare for its next two outings (3rd and 4th day) in the qualifiers of CAN against Guinea.
The Gambia, which has four points, will face Gabon for the 3 rd and 4 th day of the CAN 2022 qualifiers. For the second round of the World Cup qualifiers, Senegal was placed in the same group as the Congo, Togo and Namibia.
