Ex-Ivorian players reject Didier Drogba for the FA President Position
Didier Drogba’s hope of becoming the next FA president for the Ivorian Football Federation seems to be unsuccessful as members of the Association of Former Ivorian Footballers refused to endorse him.
The former Chelsea attacker and the Champions League winner obtained a zero vote out of the fourteen members in the association whereas his rival, Sory Diabate, the league President had 11 votes.
Iddriss Diallo, who is the current Vice President of the FA also had zero votes having no backing from the association.
The voting which was done through a conference video call due to the novel coronavirus excluded members of the Active Footballers Association, Referees, Physios and Coaches where Drogba is believed to have a strong vote.
Reports in Ivory Coast say the former Ivorian International has been endorsed by forty-eight professional league clubs.
Members of the Former Players Association:
Abdoulaye Traore, Oumar Ben Salah, Aka Kouame Basile, Soro Jean, Zezeto, Didier Zokora, Ibrahim Kone, Badra Siby Aliou, Youssouf Fofana, Beugre Yago Eugene, Didier Otokore, Fadel Keita, Kassi Kouadio Lucien, Alain Gouaméné
Didier Yves Drogba Tébily, hope of becoming the FA President now depends on the outcome of the next election among the Active Footballers Association, Referees, physios and the coaches.
