Emir Sanusi’s Relative Kidnapped On Abuja-Kaduna Highway
If there is a recurring characteristic of the Abuja-Kaduna Highway also known as the A2, it is that the roads are plagued with kidnappers. After a short while of what might now be called ‘bliss’ kidnappers have reportedly returned to the A2 and this time the strike royalty.
Aminu Musa Abdullahi, a nephew to Muhammadu Sanusi II, the former Emir of Kano has been abducted by suspected kidnappers last week.
A source close to the family confirmed Abdullahi’s kidnap to Daily Trust. The source added that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom from the family but have not kept in touch.
“The family has sourced the requested amount and when the person assigned to deliver the money to the kidnappers set out to meet them, he lost contact with them completely. Till this moment, they have not communicated to the family,” the source said.
The A2 road users have confirmed that the criminals operate between 5 am and 7 am in the morning and 7 pm and 9 pm in the evening every day. They have also reported killings of motorists from an eye witness angle.
In 2017, Reuters reported that the Kaduna airport was closed down for renovation which was followed by high-profile citizens having to use the A2. Motorists reported that this period was one of the safest on the major Nigerian road.
