SENATOR SHEHU SANI WROTE:
Fulani people are Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, Engineers, Academics, Judges, Accountants, Scientists, Service men, Pilots, Industrialists, Traders, Journalists, Authors, Artisans, politicians etc and not just Herdsmen. Its wrong for people to be attaching 'Fulani' to Herdsmen who maim and kill. Herdsmen who kill are simply criminals and the appropriate appellation or phrase should be 'Killer Herdsmen'.Criminalization of an Ethnic group because of the activities of a few is unacceptable. Fulanis are peaceful and Hardworking people with a great and proud history and rich cultural heritage.
Crimes such as Corruption,Terrorism, Human Trafficking, Drug Trafficking, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Advance fee fraud, Rape and so on are without ethnic reference in our national discourse. My appeal is that #KillerHerdsmen should replace #FulaniHerdsmen ;and we must collectively combat their violence is high time you stop addressing us like that.
