Post-electoral crisis in Guinea: candidate Cellou dalein Diallo wins first international victory

The standoff engaged around the results of the first round of the presidential election on October 18 between the outgoing president and his main opponent promises to be long and tense.  In recent days, several countries and international institutions have questioned the credibility of the provisional results proclaimed by the CENI.

The European Union, France, the United States, all denounce the lack of transparency in the compilation of minutes by the CENI.  It is in this sense that the International Liberal, which brings together the political parties resulting from this current, reacted on the question through its president.  Hakima El Haite, through a declaration by videoconference, recognized and congratulated the victory announced by Cellou dalein Diallo in the first round of this presidential election.

Mr. President Cellou Dalein Diallo, first of all I would like to remind you that it is you that we recognize as president because elected by the people of Guinea.  You are a person of exceptional quality.  Your political party and your country will benefit from your commitment, your know-how and your experience.  Despite the Covid-19, I wish to go to Guinea to participate in your inauguration as the President of the Republic.  Since we met among the thousands of high personalities of the world, seeing how many times you are coveted, I have had confidence in you.  I knew it was going to happen someday.

I congratulate you on your organization within your political party and the alliance which accompanied you in the presidential elections.  You have been able to mobilize more than 32,000 young graduates to deploy them throughout Guinea in order to supervise these elections and report the real results from the polls to count and publish them.  It is your effort that has enabled the whole world to understand that you are the winner and that the results proclaimed by the people of Mr. Alpha Condé are false.

I welcome the fact that the European Union, France, the United States and others have all denounced the fabricated results.  But as an African, I would have liked the African institutions (ECOWAS, AU) to support you in the same way as other institutions in the world, because the truth is with you.  We are working for this and I know it will happen.  From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you and look forward to participating in your investiture.

Hakima El Haite, President of the International Liberal
