Mali: Released tonight IBK returns to Sébénikoro
Arrested on August 18 by soldiers from the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP), President Ibrahima Boubacar Keita (IBK) was released on the night of Wednesday 26 to Thursday 27.
After demonstrations by members of the M5 led by the charismatic Imam Mahmoud Dicko, it was the CNSP soldiers who finally put IBK in power on August 18.
The former Malian president was even arrested along with his prime minister Boubou Cissé the same day at around 4 p.m. at his residence in Sébénikoro. During the night he announced his resignation and the dissolution of the government as well as that of the National Assembly.
More than a week spent in detention at the Katy garrison camp, Ibrahima Boubacar Keita was released last night. He then returned to his residence in Sébénikoro.
