Kano Govt announces day to start headcount of Fulani Herdsmen

Kano State Government says the process to start counting Fulani Herdsmen will start on Monday, 28 June.

Director-General of Kano State Bureau of Statistic Malam Baballe Ammani stated this in a News Conference on Friday.

Ammani said it is in line with Kano state Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to know the actual number of Fulani Herdsmen residing in the State.

He said the pilot test of the project started three days back in Warawa and Kumbotso Local Government.

“We do that to give room for the Adhoc Staff to count them to know what’s expected of them together with our staff as a guide to them so that they’ll deliver when ask to cover some certain areas,” Baballe Ammani said.

Kano State Governor, in an interview with Daily News 24.said the essence is to assist the Fulani people get basic social amenities, educate their children to get maximum security by knowing their areas and grazing areas they are residing and train them on how to utilize modern means of rearing cattle and Artificial Insemination as a panacea to the challenges facing them.

You can recall that Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sponsored 60 fulani trainees to study artificial. Insemination in Turkey and built Ruga Settlement at Dansoshiya Forest to bring them closer to the development and new trend to improve their rearing profession.
