IPOB militants attack police station, kill 2 officers, free detainees

Unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday, attacked Obosi police station in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

During the attack, it was gathered; the gunmen killed two police Inspectors and freed all detainees in the cell.

A source at the police station told newsmen that the gunmen razed down the police station after emptying the cells of all the detainees.

Confirming the attack, the state police spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu, said that the police commissioner had dispatched a crack team to investigate the matter.

“The tactical team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police was directed to have an on-the-spot assessment of the place.
“The team was equally told to possibly identify and apprehend the hoodlums that perpetrated the attack,” he said.
Ikenga said that the bodies of the two policemen had been deposited at a nearby morgue, adding that investigation into the matter had began.
