Insecurity: Everybody Is Afraid In Nigeria — Shaikh Dahiru Bauchi

The renowned Islamic Scholar, Shaikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has called on the federal government to end the insecurity in the country, saying nobody is safe anymore.

The octogenarian cleric said it’s the government’s responsibilities to protect its citizens from bandits and other criminal elements terrorizing the people.

Shaikh Dahiru Bauchi made the comment when he received a Christian delegation led by a former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, and Pastor Yohana Buru of Peace Revival and Reconciliation of Nigeria at his Kaduna residence on Tuesday.

The cleric described the level of insecurity in the country as worrisome and disheartening, adding that Nigerians didn’t expect this to be happening with the government in charge of the security apparatus.

“What we expect from all the three levels of government, be it Federal, State and Local government, is to get us out of this problem because nobody is safe.

“You are not safe at home, you are not safe on the street and yet the government didn’t free us from this phobia.

“We didn’t vote for them to be in this situation, we didn’t vote for them to be sold like animals or to be treated anyhow when we have a government in place. What is happening is worrisome.

“We know the government is aware of the happening in the country, we also know the governors too are aware and the local government authority.

“Therefore, they should all listen to us because people cannot go to farms for fear of being killed.

“The government must do the needful by protecting its citizens both Muslims and Christians from these criminal elements,” he said.

In his remarks, Dalung said they were at the residence of the scholar to join him in breaking of fast and also to seek his prayers for Nigeria
