” Pride, immense pride. I am very proud of my origins and I am also here to represent the country of my parents, Guinea. I know people follow me and many young people want to try to follow the footsteps of Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo for example, and these are great examples to follow, big brothers for all the youth of the continent and for all of us Who have a connection to Africa.
I grew up in a neighborhood called lefrak, where several families of African origins are installed, especially from West Africa. There were several NBA Players who came out of this neighborhood, including the famous Kenny Anderson who inspired many young people from this new york area. My parents immigrated to the United States from guinea, and I always loved being between my two cultures, being born in New York and having this african heritage. I have always been proud of my name and my origins, and I am very attached to guinean culture. I grew up with parents who spoke French or the dialect at home, and that’s something that marked me a lot. Guinea is part of me, and even though I was not born I want to try to show guinean youth that everything is possible by working hard…”
