Crisis in Ivory Coast: Paris urges Ouattara to "take initiatives"
President Alassane Ouattara's candidacy for a third term has plunged Côte d'Ivoire into a political crisis marked by pre and post-election violence.
Thus, to alleviate such a situation, head of French diplomacy Jean-Yves le Drian asked President Ouattara, reelected for a third term, to "take appropriate initiatives" to restore social peace.
"It is important, in order to avoid abuses and violence, that President Ouattara take the necessary initiatives so that serenity returns and that national unity is present," he declared.
Jean-Yves le Drian continues: "I know he intends to, I hope he will do it quickly," reports lefigaro.fr.
