Alpha Condé, the outgoing president, was elected in the first round for a third term. A "knockout" which has just been announced at the end of an extremely tense week in Guinea.
According to the provisional overall results delivered Saturday, October 24 by Kabinet Cissé, the president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni), Alpha Condé won 59.49% of the votes cast, against 33.5% for Cellou Dalein Diallo, his main rival .
Among the other candidates, none exceeded the fateful 5% mark, a threshold required to obtain reimbursement of their deposit. The turnout for the presidential election on Sunday, October 18 was 78.88%.
But the question is to ask why two commissioners withdrew when the results were totaled by the Ceni? Also, Dalein said he won the ballot based on the results he got from his delegates.
Today, the Ceni declares Condé victorious. Ultimately, there are two presidential winners and one loser who is the Guinean people who are counting their dead.
