Barrow gave out food items to Jammeh’s family
President Barrow has donated 200 bags of rice, 60 bags of sugar, 60 gallons of cooking oil and a sum of D200,000 to the family of former President Yahya Jammeh and by extension to the people of Foni as part of his development plans to the people of the region.
The President has donated food items to Jammeh’s family during the Meet the People Tour, where he promised to bring development projects to Foni, including a Mini Stadium.
Barrow has faced stiff opposition in Foni being the birthplace of Jammeh, who was defeated by Barrow in the 2016 presidential election, which sent Jammeh parking.
Tourism Minister Hamat Bah has urged the People of Foni to rally behind the President emphasizing that leaders come and leave, so Jammeh was destined to leave too. Bah made these remarks in the rally held in Bwiam.
Former president Yahya Jammeh was very popular within the local people of Foni. Jammeh brought in development projects in Foni, including the Bwiam hospital, which is the biggest hospital in West Coast Region.
Foni has now been a target for most politicians, who are busy preying supporters ahead of the highly contested 2021 election. The people of Foni still show allegiance to Jammeh and his APRC.
