Zamfara Police arrest ibo man, others supplying drugs, guns to bandits

The Zamfara state Police Command has arrested one Nnanna Uchena suspected to be one of the major suppliers of hard drugs to bandits in the state.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro while parading Uchenna and some suspected drugs and gun suppliers to bandits at the state headquarters of the police command in Gusau on Friday.
Yaro said on 10th March, the police in Shinkafi local government area of the state based on credible intelligence arrested Uchenna and his accomplice one Aminu Mohammed both residents of Shinkafi town after series of complaints by the people of the area.
“The duo engaged themselves in the supply of hard drugs and injections to the bandits in the bush through one Buzu now at large.
“One of the suspects Aminu Mohammed who happened to be the middleman of the business was arrested in possession of 100 bottles of Pentazocine injections.
“The injections according to the pharmaceutical analysis is used to treat moderate to severe pain for adult and children who are at least 12 years. It is also used as part of anesthesia for surgery,” he said.
The commissioner added that the command arrested Abubakar Mohammed a suspected illicit drug suppliers to the bandits.
“On 18th March, Police arrested Abubakar Mohammed of Falaila GRA Gusau in possession of large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs which are being used by bandits and other criminal elements,” he said.
Yaro said the command also arrested a Ibrahim Adamu a suspected gun run while trying to purchase a rifle.
“On 18th March, the Police Command arrested one Ibrahim Adamu notoriously known as Gado after a credible information revealed that himself and one Tsoho Dandela all bandits of Kangon Maraca village of Bungudu local government area of state concluded plan to purchase AK47 rifles from one Dogo Alo a notorious armed bandit residing in a bush under Zurmi local government area of the state.
“Our operatives mounted a monitoring squad which led to the successful arrest of one of the suspects with the cash sum of one million , seventy thousand Naira meant for the consignment,” he said.
He said the command also apprehended a suspected notorious bandit named Lawal Ibrahim of Chediya village in Tsafe local government area of the state.
“On 17th March, a team of Policemen attached to Operation Puff Adder in Tsafe local government area received an intelligence report that a strange person suspected to be bandit was seen at the outskirt of Biyabiki village in Tsafe local government area.
“Operatives in collaboration with the vigilante group of the area quickly mobilized to the scene and arrested the suspect in possession with an AK47 rifle and magazine with two rounds of live ammunition,” he said.
Yaro said the command arrested Murtala Yusuf a suspected armed robber from Funtua local government area in Katsina state.
“On 14th March, the suspect who came all the way from Funtua local government area in Katsina state to Zamfara to perpetrate act of criminality was arrested by our operatives after an alarm was raised by the victim who happened to be an Okada man conveying the suspect from old market to Janyau area, Gusau.
“On reaching the destination, the suspect who was armed with a deadly sharp iron inflicted injury on the victim’s right hand and also poured some powder like substance into his eyes thereby blinding the victim before robbing him of his Boxer motorcycle,” he said.
