Police In Kano Arrest 13 Suspects Over Attack On Senator Barau Jibril’s Campaign Office

The Kano State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 13 suspects in connection with the attack on the campaign office of Barau Jibril, the Senator representing Kano North Senatorial District.

On Thursday morning, hundreds of thugs, holding dangerous weapons, had invaded Mr Jibril’s campaign office along Maiduguri Road, vandalising part of the building, furniture and billboards.

Mr Jibril, who is gunning for Kano gubernatorial position, is at loggerheads with the governor after pitching his tents with the All Progressives Congress, APC, faction led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.

In a statement on Thursday, the police spokesman in the state, Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, said the arrest followed the instruction of the state Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shu’aibu-Dikko, to teams of Operation Puff Adder, which moved to the scene and restored normalcy.

According to him, weapons and other items were recovered during the operation.

He added that the items recovered include 34 dangerous weapons, 23 Clubs, 2 gallons of substance believed to be petroleum, 1 parcel and 30 pieces of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp.

Other exhibits recovered include 24 sachets of Diazapam tablets, 4 pieces of Red Sun solution, 1 mobile phone, 2 ceiling fans and a bunch of charms.

Mr Kiyawa said: “The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, FSA warns that, criminals will have no hiding place in Kano State.

“They are advised to either repent or leave the State completely. Otherwise, they will be arrested and face the full wrath of Law. He thanked the good people of Kano State for their prayers, encouragement, continuous support and cooperation.

“He urged residents to pray for the State, the Nation and report incidences to the nearest Police Station and not to take laws into their hands.

“Rigorous patrol and raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State, as the Command will sustain the ongoing “Operation Puff Adder,” he stated.
