Sadiq Umar scored his first Super Eagles goal in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau in their final African Cup of Nations Group D encounter at the Roumde Adija stadium in Garoua.
The Kaduna-born striker finally scored his first ever senior goal for Nigeria on his first start and third cap.

Captain William Troost-Ekong scored the clincher following a moment of brilliance from Moses Simon as Nigeria won all three group matches.
The latest feat by Coach Austin Eguavoen’s side is a repeat of his 2006 heroics.
The 56-year-old coach remains the only Nigerian coach in history to win all three matches in the group stage of the AFCON, also becoming the first to achieve it twice.
Nigeria showed its superiority with the lead on 57 minutes through the wasteful Umar. The Almeria striker was on hand to dispatch at the back post from Iheanacho low cross for 1-0.
The introduction of Moses Simon resumed normal service in attack for the Eagles, and a moment of brilliance from the winger led to the second goal that required lengthy VAR decision before it was awarded.
Moses dribbled past three Guinea Bissau defenders inside the box before unleashing a shot that cannoned off the crossbar but Captain Troost-Ekong was on hand to stab home for 2-0 and seal the win.
Nigeria finish Group D as group winners with nine maximum points, with Egypt’s 1-0 win over Sudan earning the Pharaohs runners up spot.
