The reconstruction of the mosque, which collapsed in Zaria, Kaduna State, commenced on Monday with the demolition of the old edifice aged over 100 years.
Recall that in August,2023, a section of the Emir Abdulkarim Central Mosque, Zaria collapsed which resulted in the loss of eight lives, while scores of worshipers sustained various degrees of injuries.
Subsequently, after the incident, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, constituted a committee of experts and professionals for the reconstruction of the collapsed mosque.
The committee was headed by former Vice-President Muhammadu Namadi Sambo.
Similarly, In October, 2023 at Shehu ‘YarAduwa Centre, Abuja, a fundraising occasion for the reconstruction of the mosque was inaugurated where the sum of three billion naira (N3 billion ) was promised under the Chief Launcher and Chairman of BUA Groups, Alhaji Abdussamad Rabiu, donating the sum of two billion naira (N2 billion).
The project is expected to be completed within 2 years as directed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, during the fundraising event.
