Peter Obi Lacks Structures, Can’t Win 2023 Elections — Atiku
The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has dismissed the chances of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to win the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Friday, Mr Atiku said the Labour Party won’t pull up any surprises because it lacks structures across the country.
Mr Atiku also dismissed the insinuation that the LP would divide the votes of the South-East, which has been the traditional stronghold of the PDP.
According to him, the July 16 Osun governorship election has shown that the Labour Party and Mr Obi are not a threat in the 2023 elections.
He said: “What is the performance of the Labour Party? This is a party that does not have a governor; doesn’t have members of the National Assembly; doesn’t have State Assembly members.
“Politics in this country depends on the structures you have at these various levels – at the local government level; at the state level; and at the national level. So, it is very, very difficult to expect a miracle to happen simply because Peter Obi is in the Labour Party.
“After all, they were saying through social media they have more than 1 million votes in Osun State. But how many people turned out to vote for the Labour Party?
Mr Atiku further stated that 90 percent of people in the North does not use social media, implying that it will limit the LP’s chances of winning the 2023 presidential election.
