N-Power: 13,823 Plateau Youths To benefita froma Batch C  – Minister

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,  Sadiya Umar Farouq, says the ministry will create jobs for 13,823 youths in Plateau under the National Social Investment Programme, NSIP, of the federal government

Mrs Farouq announced this at the closing of the training and presentation of starter packs to the beneficiaries of its N-Skills programme on Tuesday in Jos.

The minister, who was represented by Ladan Haruna, the Director of Administration of the Ministry at the event, said that the jobs would create through the Batch C of the N-Power programme of NSIP.

She said that the development followed the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari for the expansion of the N-Power programme to accommodate more youths.

“Let me reiterate the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari toward addressing poverty and youth unemployment in Nigeria, through the NSIP.

“The graduate and non-graduate components of the N-Power programme have been expanded to provide job opportunities for 13,823 unemployed youths in Plateau under Batch C.
 
“This follows the successfully exiting of 11, 505 youths in the state under Batches A and B of the programme.

“With the president’s approval for expansion of the NSIP, we will double job and wealth creation opportunities for the teeming youths of the Plateau soon,” she said.

Mrs Farouq said that the federal government had so far expended N4.9 billion for the training, tooling and payment of monthly stipends on the Batch C beneficiaries of NSIP across the country, adding that the tremendous direct injection of resources at the grassroots and in the hands of the youths.

She explained that through the N-Power programme, the provision of much-needed services in the education, health and agricultural sectors would be enhanced in the states, adding that the beneficiaries would be engaged in income-generating activities that would contribute to local economic growth.

The minister commended Governor Simon Lalong for supporting Buhari’s agenda of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.
