Gov Lawal, 6 Others Meet Tinubu Over Insecurity In North-West
The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, alongside other governors of the North-West States, have met with President Bola Tinubu behind closed-doors.
The meeting between the President and the seven Governors, which held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was on the sideline of the maiden meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) on Thursday.
A statement by the Spokesperson of the Zamfara State Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, on Friday, said the Governors met with President Tinubu to discuss the lingering security challenges affecting the North-West geo-political region.
The governors had earlier attended the inaugural NEC meeting chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
“Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, alongside other Northwestern Governors had a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu.
“The meeting is part of the efforts by the Governors to seek presidential intervention in addressing the menace of banditry and kidnapping in the Northwest region.
“The Governors briefed the president on their major concerns about intractable security problems in their respective States.
“Before meeting with the President, the Seven (7) Northwestern Governors were in attendance of the NEC meeting which was attended by the 36 State Governors,” Idris stated.
