BREAKING: Ganduje Appoints New Emir Of Gaya
The governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appointed Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya as the new emir of Gaya, four days after the death of the emir.
On Wednesday, September 22, the first emir of Gaya. Ibrahim Abdulkadir, died. Gaya is one of the four additional emirates created by Mr Ganduje in 2019.
Immediately after his death, the emirate’s kingmakers started the processes of appointing the new emir.
Announcing the appointment in the early hours of Sunday, the Secretary of State Government, SSG, Usman Alhaji said it was based on recommendation of the five kingmakers.
He said the kingmakers, after presentation of three candidates, recommended Aliyu Ibrahim, who is the eldest son of the late emir and held the traditional title holder of Chiroman Gaya.
The SSG stated that “Kano state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by the power conferred on him by the Kano state emirate law 2020, has recommended the appointment of Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya as the new emir of Gaya emirate.
“The appointment flowed the recommendations of the five Gaya kingmakers, after presentation of three candidates, recommended Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya as the new emir of Gaya.
“The new emir is the Chiroman Gaya who succeeded his father, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who died on Wednesday.
“The governor therefore congratulated the new emir and wishes him success in steering the affairs of Gaya emirate,” the SSG said.
