JUST IN: Gawuna congratulates Kano governor-elect, Abba Yusuf
In an audio message shared on Wednesday by his spokesman, Hassan Fagge, in Kano, Mr Gawuna prayed that Mr Yusuf becomes a good leader for the state.
“As for the winner of the election, we pray to God to make him a good leader.
“We also pray that God will make us obedient and good followers to the leadership. May Allah bring peace and harmony to our dear state.
“We thank our supporters for coming out en mass to vote for us. I also implore them to be good servant of Allah and accept the outcome of the election in good faith,” said Mr Gawuna.
The deputy governor, however, claimed that the election was riddled with malpractices in some polling units, which prompted them to call for review.
Mr Gawuna, recalled that after the announcement of the election result, APC had written to the INEC, challenging the outcome and asked the umpire to declare it inconclusive.
“Since INEC had confirmed Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP and went ahead to issue a certificate of return to him today, March 29, I am reminding our supporters that I have been praying to God to choose the best for me.
“I have been praying to God that I should win the election if it is the best for me, and if it is not the best for me, I asked Him to change it for a better thing for me,” he added.
