Two Fulani herders have been killed and six others injured after gunmen attacked a vehicle conveying them at Yelwa Club Junction, near Total Filling Station in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday as the victims were returning from the Kara Bukuru Cattle Market to Bassa Local Government Area of the state.
The incident came less than two weeks after five Fulani herders were killed in an attack around Kassa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area while returning from the same market.
Confirming Sunday’s incident, the Plateau State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, said the injured victims had been taken to hospital for treatment.
Mr Babayo condemned the attack and urged security agencies to identify and arrest those responsible.
He described the incident as unprovoked and disturbing.
In a statement, MACBAN expressed concern over what it described as recurring attacks along the route linking communities to the Kara Bukuru market.

“This unfortunate incident is deeply disturbing and represents yet another attack against innocent herders who were peacefully returning from their lawful business activities.
“We are particularly concerned because this is not an isolated incident. On 20 September 2026, five Fulani herders lost their lives following an attack around Kassa in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area while returning from the same Kara Bukuru Livestock Market.
“Similarly, in December last year, Fulani herders were attacked near the Conoil Filling Station while returning from the same market.
“The recurrence of such attacks has created fear and insecurity among law-abiding pastoralists and traders who depend on the market for their livelihood,” the association said.
MACBAN said the continuous attacks on herders were unacceptable, stressing that no Nigerian should be attacked or killed because of their ethnicity or occupation.
It urged the Plateau State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, Operation Safe Haven, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to strengthen security along the Kara Bukuru market route.
The association also called for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attacks to prevent further incidents.
“We also call on our members to remain calm, law-abiding, and to avoid any form of retaliation. We have confidence that the security agencies will carry out a professional investigation and ensure that justice is served,” MACBAN said.
The association said it remained committed to peaceful coexistence with communities across
