Arrested on August 18 by soldiers from the National Committee for the Salvation of the People (CNSP), President Ibrahima Boubacar Keita (IBK) was released on the night of Wednesday 26 to Thursday 27.

After demonstrations by members of the M5 led by the charismatic Imam Mahmoud Dicko, it was the CNSP soldiers who finally put IBK in power on August 18.
