IDPs: Borno Govt Returns 20 Communities To Their Ancestral Homes
Zulum thanked the federal government for the intervention and said,” The relative peace we have been experiencing prompted us to close down some of the IDPs camps in Maiduguri Metropolitan and Jere Local Government Area. Over 20 communities have been resettled to their ancestral homes. The government of Borno State is making sure that we build resilience in all the communities that have been resettled.”
He assured the ministry that the state government had set up a mechanism to follow up the distribution to the purpose intended and make sure the support was given to the people, adding, “These relief items come at the right time when we are really in need of them.”
Earlier in her remarks, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Nura Alkali, said the nonfood items delivered include 75, 600 clothing materials for women, 72, 000 for men, 19, 200 pieces of blankets and 17,200 pieces of polythene mats to Borno State government for onward distribution to the IDPs resettled to their ancestral homes
